XFetch Add to Chrome

Chrome extension Free and open source

Save video, images
and GIFs from X.

XFetch is a Twitter video downloader that adds a download button to every post on X. GIFs are saved as real .gif files, converted right in your browser.

Also works in Edge, Brave and other Chromium browsers.

The download button X left out.

One button on every post with media. No converter sites, no new tabs, no sign-up.

Real GIFs, not MP4s

X stores GIFs as silent MP4 videos. XFetch re-encodes them into animated .gif files that play anywhere.

Full quality

Videos save at the highest bitrate X offers. Images download at their original resolution.

Private by design

Conversion runs on your device. No account, no analytics, and nothing is uploaded.

Set it up once.

Right-click the extension icon and choose Options. Turn GIF conversion off to keep the original MP4.

Is XFetch free?

Yes. XFetch is free and open source, and you don’t need an account to use it.

Does it work outside Chrome?

Yes. Install it from the Chrome Web Store in any Chromium browser that supports Chrome extensions, including Edge and Brave.

Why does GIF conversion take a moment?

X serves GIFs as MP4 videos, so XFetch decodes and re-encodes them on your device before saving. Longer clips and higher quality presets take longer. The button shows live progress.

Does it work on private accounts?

No. XFetch can only save media from posts that are publicly visible.

What happens to my data?

XFetch has no analytics or tracking. It only contacts X’s own services to find and retrieve media. Settings live in your browser’s extension sync storage. Read the privacy policy.
